Educardo Xucuru

Founding Crew Member

I, Eduardo Feitoza da Silva, professor, son of Maria das Graças and Antônio, both indigenous farmers, belong to the Xukuru Indigenous people of Ororubá. My life story is strengthened through the ethical, moral and cultural values that throughout my life I have seen, lived and heard my parents and my Toypes encourage to fight to continue resisting. The reconquest of the territory, guaranteed by the land takeovers, was my first school. In this movement I learned how the Xukuru warrior fights for his rights and assumes his duties.

I, Maria Silvaneide Faustino Nogueira (Silvinha Xukuru), Indigenous of Xukuru of Ororubá, teacher and activist in the indigenous movement, represent the collective of Xukuru women from the perspective of internal discussions to enhance the visibility of women in relation to the movements. I grew up participating in the land recoveries and learned from my leaders how to defend the territory within all its spirituality.

Today we seek to retake new spaces of discussion to guarantee and maintain our identity. Having the visibility of indigenous women ahead of the movement of battle in defense of our territory.
